Please join us in wishing our sweet Cocoa a new Happy Birthday! Cocoa has found her forever family and will make her home in Portland. Dana, Charlie and new Sis, Sara, drove down on Saturday to meet her and it was love on all sides instantly. Sara and Cocoa have become quick friends, even sharing mom’s lap together on the ride home! Cocoa has lots of walks, hikes and camping trips in her future, and new mom says she’ll have a backpack for riding when her three little legs get tired. Dana and Charlie have experience with the special needs that Cocoa might have as they are previous parents to a three-legged dog!
Remember Cocoa was found on the side of the road in Cave Junction with a broken, back leg. She was taken to Dr Joe’s and nobody came forward to claim her. The Josephine County Animal Shelter asked Shelter Friends to help out with her medical and of course we said yes! Cocoa had a couple surgeries to try and repair the damage, but in the end, we decided amputation was the best thing for her. Cocoa is a happy-go-lucky-girl, and we wish her all the best on her new journey!
