Meet Canelo a presumed doxi/terrier mix.

Hola! Me llamo Canelo. Yo hablo espanol, but I am getting by ok in this english-speaking shelter. I’m about 4 years old and weigh about 45lbs. I am a sweetheart, who will seek your comfort and assurance by ever-so-gently getting into your lap if you let me. I have nice manners, especially in the home. I get along very well with other dogs, and have lived with children before, too. I can be protective of my family, and like to alert to them when I think something new might be afoot, so a nice, quiet property may be best for me. I would like a home with no cats.

You are encouraged to make every effort to visit the shelter for a meet and greet. Staff available to assist. You can walk on the trails and interact in the play yards. Unless otherwise noted, we can not say if a dog does well with cats, livestock or chickens or with the dogs you may already have in your home or at dog parks. So please, if you have a dog, please arrange to bring for a meet and greet. Current vaccinations, spayed or neutered and micro chipped.

Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter 1420 Brookside Blvd. Grants Pass, across from the Grants Pass Airport. You are encouraged to call the shelter at 541 474-5458. When calling please press option 0. Hours open to the public 10 am – 4 pm every day except Sunday and posted holidays. Up to date on shots, spayed or neutered and micro chipped.

Roy Quiggly

Always read entire post please. If you are replying to a post on a rescue site- Please tell us about your family, activities, other animals and your expectations of your pet and what they can expect from you and the city in which you live.

Roy Quigley a presumed Cattle dog mix is 4yr old boy, at that perfect size of ~35lbs. He is a sweet, lovable, little scamp. He craves lots of attention from his person and will reciprocate in kind. While he has lived with dogs, cats, and livestock, he can be competitive with other pets for attention—not aggressive, just pushy–so will probably do best in just a “you and me” household. He will look at you adoringly and an eagerness to please.
Because Roy is so focused on his human , he is very trainable. His foster mom has been working with him on some obedience stuff, and is happy to fill in his new family on what has worked. He has good potty manners and doing well on a leash.
When going for walks, quiet sidewalks with minimal traffic noise are encouraged as he can be a bit nervous with that kind of commotion. He is also seeking an adult only home. Roy does need a little work on things such as: counter surfing, chewing odd items out of place on the floor like dental floss containers and newspapers. Things like this put a great big smile on his face. Overall- he is delightful and doing well with his female retired foster mom. A home of similar energy and attention is encouraged.
Roy is currently being treated for Heartworm Disease. Please ask staff for more details.

Meet Nick
Hello, my name is Nick. I’m a 5 year old boy who weighs 70lbs. I am gentle, quiet, mellow, and loving. I have met other dogs here at the shelter very politely, and have lived with cats and children before. I can be reserved at first….I’m a bit unsure of all this commotion, but sit with me, pet me, and you’ll probably get me to lean my head into your hand for more pets. I’m looking for a quiet home where I can do what I do best–being a loyal companion!

Hello friends, I’m Sid- a presumed McNab mix. I’m an approximately 6 year old boy who weighs 42lbs. I am well-mannered and gentle. I am friendly when meeting new people, and am quick to roll over for a belly rub. I also get along very swimmingly with other dogs and am quite the well rounded fella! I’m quiet and tidy in my kennel, and enjoy my time in the play yards. I’d love to join a new family!

Meet Ike a presumed Shepherd mix.
Do you like Ike? We like Ike! Because Ike is a 1 yr old boy who weighs 85lbs, with a heart of gold. This happy-go-lucky dog loves everyone he meets. He is so happy to make new friends, human and canine alike. If you are looking for a social butterfly, Ike is the guy for you! This fella is a big boy and could use a little guidance in the manners department, but he is young and eager to please!

Arlo

Meet Arlo
Hi, my name is Arlo a presumed Mastiff mix. I am a big boy who is about 1 1/2 yrs old and weighs 75lbs. I came in with another dog, and have enjoyed meeting some of the other dogs here, too, but not all of them. I am a lovebug who loves to give you my hand to make sure you don’t stop petting me. I am not very polite on a leash right now–I treat every walk like the Iditarod–but I am getting better with the assistance of gentle leaders and other such apparatuses. I need an adult only home with experienced dog companions, as I can be protective of my stuff.

Meet Knox a presumed Bull Dog mix.
This lovable boy is about 2 years old and looking for a new home. Knox weighs 75lbs. Knox is a wigglebutt and a social butterfly. When you first meet him, he will give you a big toothy smile 🙂 Knox likes other dogs, but needs a tolerant dog as he tends to throw his weight around. Knox is being sponsored by Shelter Friends as part of their Heartworm Heroes program to help treat his heartworm disease. Treatment is paid for–he just needs an adopter who can keep him on his medication schedule. After treatment, that will all be behind him!
