We’d like to introduce a very special guest! Pepsi is a 2 yr old female presumed Boxer mix- Great American Shelter dog weighing about 40-45 lbs. Upon arrival at the shelter she was very scared. She would do whatever she could to act invisible. We could see though the wall she put up, though. This girl has never once shown an ounce of aggression and started showing us some cues that she really wanted and yearned for that social connection. We took it slow, just starting with sitting with her. She then got to hang out in the office during the day or with her dog friends in the play yard, slowly getting used to more sights and sounds. Her volunteer friend Kathleen helped sit with her, take her on walks, and comfort her. This girl loves people, she loves to be held, she loves human contact, and loves to be loved on–she just didn’t quite know how to show it in the shelter environment.
